Lou Byrd on the MoveInterim HealthCare of the Eastern Carolinas, Inc. announced today that Donna “Lou” Byrd of Pittsboro and the Holden Beach area has acquired 100% of its stock from Stephen M. (Steve) Smith of Whiteville

Byrd owns the Interim HealthCare franchise locations in Raleigh, Durham and Asheville and will be eventually consolidating the corporate office functions for those locations to Whiteville. She will be relocating permanently to the Holden Beach area and will maintain her primary office in Whiteville. 
Smith, who began the franchise in January 1984 will continue indefinitely in an advisory capacity and as lessor for most of the company buildings.

“ This is a very logical development as it expands our footprint from Virginia to South Carolina, encompassing seven urban areas and a large number of rural and community markets”, said Steve Smith. He added, “Lou Byrd began with Interim HealthCare right out of the UNC School of Public Health, and has done about every non-clinical job there is to do. She eventually purchased the Raleigh, Durham and Asheville franchises from the original franchisee there, and has successfully operated them for several years now. She has excellent relationships with the regional medical centers in the Triangle Area, which will be a positive for the southeastern market .”
Interim HealthCare of the Eastern Carolinas, Inc. has been providing centralized support out of its’ Whiteville corporate service center for its’ multiple branches for years, so it’s a natural fit to provide those services for the newly-aligned Raleigh , Durham and Asheville franchises.

Commenting on her acquisition, Byrd said, “We have worked closely with Steve’s operations over the years, and knew that it possessed size and quality. Their administrative infrastructure is very strong, as is his Management Team and staff. I look forward to benefitting from their expertise, and to meld the best practices from our Raleigh, Durham and Asheville markets with his. I look forward to becoming involved in the Whiteville community, as Interim HealthCare continues to be a good corporate citizen here.”
