Happy International Women's Day from NAWBO Greater Raleigh!

The first Women's Day was held in 1909, and over 100 years later, we're proud to be celebrating with countries around the world - celebrating respect for, appreciation of, and love toward women for their economic, political, and social impact.

The official theme for the 2017 International Women's Day is "Be Bold for Change". As the President of NAWBO Greater Raleigh, I want to recognize all the women who are being bold in entrepreneurship; the women who are a driving force of our economy, making their dreams happen, creating jobs, and improving our local communities.

While women are starting businesses at a faster rate than men, men are still more likely to receive funding and capital, to grow their businesses past the million dollar mark, and to experience sustainable success. To all who are passionate about helping women business owners strengthen our wealth creating capacity, to make effective changes in business culture, to build purposeful alliances, and to transform public policy, we invite you to stand with us today as one voice. Today, I say thank you to all of the dedicated members of the Greater Raleigh chapter, to our sponsors and to our friends—thank you for your support and for helping us to be the champion for WBOs in the Triangle.

Lastly, I invite you to join us on Sunday, March 19th from 2-4p for the community screening of the documentary short film, Dream, Girl - being held at Jones Auditorium on the campus of Meredith College. Bring your daughter, friends, a student, or other women owners. At this event, we will gather in community to inspire, support, share and lift one another up. Learn more information about the film and REGISTER here. Help us get the word out by liking us on facebook and sharing on the social channel of choice.

And Happy International Women's Day, from the members, supporters, and sponsors of NAWBO Greater Raleigh!
